Maliek Dance Theater was created with a purpose of telling a story and touching hearts, while discovering and finding newness through dance.

For some that may ask about the Maliek aesthetic,

it is a movement language and pedagogy developed by

Nasir M.Campbell.

It's all about what else the body can do, how can we search or discover a new way of moving, different shapes, understanding pleasure, letting go and bring life to the movement, listening to our body, sensitive hands with gestures, connecting to the senses, applying force, experience freedom and possibilities to name a few.

Maliek Dance Theater is committed to encouraging all dancers to strive for excellence and enjoy the journey along the way. We believe each dancer can discover and increase her/his physical, emotional, and intellectual well-being through our dance program. Our goal is to discover newness, discover what the body can do, provide quality dance instruction through caring, professional instructors in a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. Maliek Dance Theater promotes strong self-confidence, self-respect, discipline, and appreciation through the fine arts of the body and dance. We inspire every dancer to find the creativity inside herself/himself as "We love Culture, Create Art, And Tell our story" each year.

Maliek Dance Theater is dedicated to our studio families to ensure you are kept well-informed of the progress of each dancer. We believe in activating the dancer's voice, expressing, and open communication and encouragement both at home and within the dance studio will promote a stronger confidence within each child. We are strong believers that "Fear is False" and strive towards promoting the same commitment to our studio families as we do to our dancers. We truly believe the success of each dancer is a result of great teamwork between the dance studio and our dance studio families.

Maliek Dance Theater values the New York City Community and we support many fundraising efforts sponsored throughout our locality. It is through community service that we can teach, discover, and learn the value of human kindness. “Fear is false '' is our studio's fundraising motto. We believe this is the season where this generation of dancers will and can step up and make a change in human kindness and create positive attitudes for our future. These are some values Maliek Dance Theater strives to promote with each of our dancers. It's more than just dances, it's more than discovering, it's finding newness in the body and the world.
